Descripció i Metodologia: |
Convincing teenagers of the need to produce English can often be difficult and demanding. Our aim as teachers is to provide a balance between finding materials students are interested in and following a syllabus. The main aim of this course is to focus on the practical aspects of teaching teens, the problems we face when teaching this age group and suggesting ways to encourage them to produce both spoken and written English. We will be using a wide range of different teaching materials and ideas aimed at engaging students which will help us explore effective strategies to use in the classroom.
|
| |
Objectius |
1.Provide more practical ideas for teachers to use in the classroom.
2.Suggest a selection of activities to combine fun and serious work to motivate students.
3.Encourage students to learn more autonomously, get more involved in preparation of communicative activities and motivate them to speak in English.
4.Enable teachers to share ideas and activities.
|
| |
Continguts |
•Day 1
Focus on making the classroom communicative from the first day of term. We'll be looking at some of the problems with teaching teenagers, why these problems occur and proposing solutions.
•Day 2
Focus on grammar and the syllabus. Most teachers have a heavy grammar syllabus to follow. The second day focuses on how to make grammar exercises and reading exercises, possibly the least popular parts of the syllabus, more communicative, providing a range of materials for teachers to try out and evaluate.
•Day 3
Focus on oral skills. Teachers will see a variety of different speaking activities, and get the chance to evaluate the activities aimed at different levels.
•Day 4
Focus on how to make writing more communicative with a selection of writing activities that can be adapted for different ages and levels.
•Day 5
Focus on how to give teens what they want in the classroom, while still achieving teachers' objectives, using games, computers, ICT games and videos in communicative ways.
•At all times, I provide the opportunity for teachers to share their own teaching ideas and give feedback on their own experiences.
